Client Reflections

Tequila Smith, Chief Sustainability Officer, Covanta

“Having Patrice as my executive coach has been career and life changing. I have been promoted twice within 2 years while working with her.

Often when defining my career success, I would anchor to “how far I’ve come” oppose to “where I want to go”. With Patrice’s guidance, I learned how to honor my past without anchoring to my past. Patrice provides the effective tools that allow me: to define success on my own terms, to expand my frame of expectations beyond my experiences, and to create a space for frequent introspection.

One of the more meaningful ways that we have interacted is when Patrice and I walk through exercises where I have learned to return to a peaceful, relaxing state of mind, body and spirit, regardless of what is happening in my surroundings. I am grateful to have her in my corner.”

“By the end of my initial consultation call with Patrice, I knew I had to work with her. I was in the middle of navigating the trifecta of being a new mother and wife at the height of my career, and I didn’t know how to balance it all. More important, I didn’t know if the life I had – that I spent my entire adult life working towards – was what I actually wanted.

The gift Patrice gave me was to help me see and approach life in a new way, to figure out what I want (not what society taught me to aspire to want), and how to manifest it all. In just 12 weeks, I went from a tearful intro. call to a job offer and new role I created for myself at my current organization. At the same time, I found a way to carve out more time for myself and my family.

If you are even slightly considering the idea of working with a coach, go ahead and call Patrice. You won’t regret it!”

“Patrice’s impact on my life will never be summed up in a few paragraphs. I hoped to find someone to help me get my business on track. Instead, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery that helped me identify long-held beliefs about my limitations, why I developed them, and how I made the very best choices under some of the worst circumstances.

Patrice transformed me. Her approach was not predetermined from a template. Over 12 weeks, she served as my counselor, therapist, girlfriend, business advisor, sister - asking the right questions and delivering what I needed to hear to support or challenge me. I came to Patrice wondering if it were possible to walk confidently in the direction of my dreams. I now believe I can fly.”

“As a multi-tasking mom, navigating a demanding job and big dreams for my family, it has been a blessing and good ground to count on this coaching time with Patrice. After each session, I feel a greater sense of clarity, alignment, and connection to my goals - and to the underlying purpose that fuels me.

While working with Patrice, I have literally “catapulted” into a new job at a much greater scale, influence and responsibility than I’d chosen to take on before. I’ve also been able to sustain a close, fun bond with my daughter and supported her to excel educationally - all amidst an extremely busy schedule. And although I’m still working on it, I’ve managed to find more time for self-care too. I’d highly recommend working with Patrice - you won’t regret it!”

“I found Patrice at a time in my life when, on paper, everything was looking great. I was making the money I wanted, had the title I had earned and was poised to excel even further in my career but every day my soul felt like it was dying a little more. Soul sucking is how I described it in our exploratory call. Patrice was patient, prodding, calm, soothing but thought provoking... she told me she would hold the space for me to explore and feel safe. I didn’t know what that meant exactly but I knew it was EXACTLY what I needed.

Three months later, what started out as being about my career vs following my passion, evolved into so much more. She tells you upfront that the answers are inside of us already, she just helps to bring it out and she does....masterfully. It was by no means an easy journey and I have a ways to go but I will always be grateful to Patrice for guiding me, pushing me to do the work even when I didn’t want to, waiting patiently with me while I was with my thoughts exploring, pondering and diving deep into my inner child - for holding that space for me to be beautifully ME.

This is one investment where the returns will be phenomenal all because she reminded me of who I am, whose I am and that everything I need for success in this life is already within me.”

Just had someone define Paraclete for me as someone who is going to advise you and walk with you along the way. Allow me to call out my own Paraclete, Patrice Ford Lyn, my coach. I am better in every role I play in life thanks to her support, her insight, her questioning, and her willingness to challenge me. She combines intelligence and compassion in an approach that has helped me immeasurably over the last few months.

As a coach, I TRULY believe in what I do. But I also believe in game recognizing game. And Patrice's coaching game is next level. Seriously, you can imagine how much I think of her and the work she does if I am providing a testimonial for someone in MY line of business.”

Clients

The vast majority of Catapult’s 1-1 coaching clients are women of color who work in corporations, national nonprofits, multilateral organizations or as business owners and entrepreneurs. They are high-achievers who want to enjoy life and do work that matters. Yet, they feel a disconnect between the lives they have and the lives they want. Something is telling them there is more, there has to be more.  It can be different. It must be different. Does this sound like you?

You are right.  You can live your deepest truth. It’s okay for a good life to not be good enough. It’s okay to want your life to be great.  And, it’s okay to need support in figuring out how to do that. To be clear, the disability community; immigrants, people of color and various nationalities;  LGBTQIA and gender non-conforming individuals: members of religious minorities; and members of polyamorous and non-monogamous communities have a safe space here.
